Triangle WXY has side lengths XY=14 and WX=8 . The tangent to the circumcircle of triangle WXY at X is drawn, and the line through W that is parallel to this tangent intersects XY at Z. Find YZ.

The answer might be 9.428560495, but I think it needs to be in fractional form.

Thank you so much!!!

Using similar triangles, YZ = 47/5.

This is how that inscribed triangle actually looks.

Scale 1:1  laugh

Diagram in the question is NOT to scale!!!

I'll give you the answer one more time:  YZ = 9.428560495

Is this the third thread for this question ?

It would help if there were just one.

One of the other threads does contain the sorrect solution and answer (66/7).

How do you convert    9.428571429  to  66/7 ?

That can be done this way: multiply decimal number by a whole number in order to get a whole number as a product.

( Hope it's understandable. English is my second language.smiley)

9.428571429 * 5 =  no

9.428571429 * 6 =  no

9.428571429 * 7 =  66  laugh

Maybe there's some more "mathematical" way to do that.laugh
