E is not symmetric about the  y-axis, but it is symmetric about the origin.

So  E  is an odd function.

So whenever a function is symmetrical about the origin, it is odd?

Yes...and also you can look at it like this..if  f(-x) = -f(x)  then it is odd.

On E, it looks like (2, 8)  might be a point...

If it is odd,  f(-2)  must equal  - f(2)  =  - 8

Does  f(-2) = -8 ?  Is  (-2, -8)  a point? Yes...and it will be like this for all x values, so it is odd.
