√ [ 12  * a^4 * b^3 ]  =

√12 * √a^4 * √b^3  =

√3 * √4  * √a^4  * √b^3  =

√3 *  2 * a^2  * b√b  =

2a^2b√ [ 3b ]

Note, Manuel......if you are having trouble simplifying these square roots.....we want to factor all numbers where one or more of the factors are perfect squares  (if possible)

For  the variables   .....  note that  √a^m   =   a^( m / 2)

To  simplify these....let's look at an example wher m  = 5

So  we  have   √x^5  =    x^(5/2)

Simply  divide  5/2  and express as a mixed number   =  2 + 1/2

The whole  part tells us how many powers of  x  "come out"  of the radical and the numerator of the fraction tells us how many factors of x "stay  in"  the radical
