also Is the symbol in promblem 8 multiplication? 

b+4 = a       then

b-a =

b   -   (b+4) = -4        so     (b-a)^2 = (-4)^2 = 16

1.    b +  4  = a

So

4  =   a  - b

And  note  that   (a - b)^2   = (b - a)^2

So

4^2  =  ( a - b)^2   = (b  - a)^2

So

16  =(b - a)^2

Second  one

f  = 2x - 1   

g =  x^3

(f o g) (-3)     means  to  put  -3  into  "g" and  evalute....so...

(-3)^3   =  -27

And then , we put THIS result  into " f " ....so....
