y + 3  =  \(\frac12\)(x - 2)

y + 3  =  \(\frac12\)x - 1

y  =  \(\frac12\)x - 4

The y-intercept is the point where  x = 0 . When  x = 0 ,

y  =  \(\frac12\)(0) - 4  =  -4

When  x  is  0 ,  y  is  4 .  So the y-coordinate of the y-intercept is  4 .
