John randomly surveys 50 peopleto find their favorite store at the mall. He finds that 18 people say they like the clothing store the best. If he conducts a second survey with 125 people, which is the BEST prediction for the number of people who will say they like the clothing store the best?

\(\text{what they are probably after is } \tilde{\mu} = \dfrac{18}{50} \\ n_{pred}=n \cdot \tilde{\mu} = 125 \cdot \dfrac {18}{50} = 45\)

We have the following proportion

18 / 50   =  x  / 125   multiply both sides by 125

125 * 18  /  50  = x

2250 / 50  =  x

225 / 5 = x

45 = x  = number of people out of 125 who like the clothing store the best
