What is the magnitude of normal force acting on the block when it is resting on the flat surface? How does the normal force change as the angle of the ramp increases? Explain. (Assume that the ramps are frictionless surfaces.)

I think I would need to use tetra? ( this is what i thought . The normal force is determined through N=mgcos θ . When the surface is resting on a flat surface, θ= 90  N = mgcos(0) = 0. ) but i think i may be wrng and need to use tetra?

Normal force is the force acting perpindicular to the plane (ramp) and would be   mg cos theta    where theta is the angle of the ramp.   at 0 degrees cos theta = 1      as the ramp angle is increased  cos theta gets smaller and the normal force decreases to 0 at theta = 90 degrees.

thank you so much! I was sort of on the right track, thank you!

The magnitude is the 'amount' ...    the force is  mg cos theta    that is the magnitude......
