Let x be the number of games he won yesterday.......and let N be the total number of games that he played yesterday.....so....
x / N = .85 ⇒ x = .85N (1)
And let y be the number of games he (played= won ) today....so......
total games won x + y
_________________ = ______ = .94 (2)
total games played N + y
Sub (1) into (2) and we have that
.85N + y
_______ = .94 multiply both sides by N + y
N + y
.85N + y = .94(N + y)
.85N + y = .94N + .94y
.06y = .09N
6y = 9N
y = (9/6)N
y = (3/2)N = 1.5N
But x = .85N = (17/20)N
So N must be 20 for x to be an integer
And y = 1.5N = 1.5(20) = 30
So....the minimum number of games he played today = 30
