Well, we have the equation  -0.23x + 0.8 = 0.27x + 0.9.

To solve for x, you need to isolate it.

Add 0.23x to both sides to get 0.8 = 0.5x + 0.9

Subtract 0.9 to both sides to get -0.1 = 0.5x.

Let's just make this simple and multiply both sides by 10 to get  -1 = 5x.

Divide both sides by 5 to get  -(1/5) = x.

So x = -(1/5)

When you convert to decimals.... x = -0.2

\(-0.23x + 0.8 = 0.27x + 0.9\)

\(x=-0.2\)
