The table shows the height in centimeters, that a weight bouncing from a spring would achieve if there were no friction, for a given number of seconds.
Time (s)Height (cm)
0 9
1.25 0
2.5 −9
3.75 0
5 9
6.25 0
7.5 −9
8.75 0
10 9
From its resting position, how long does it take the weight to bounce one direction, then the other, and then back to its resting position?
Answer must be in seconds!!!!
The weight is 'springing' between +9 and -9 0 is the 'resting position'
at 1.25 it is at 0
then at 2.5 it goes to -9
then back to 0 at 3.75
then to +9 at 5 sec
then finally back to 0 at 6.25 seconds This is one complete cycle 6.25 sec - 1.25 sec = 5 seconds
