Lynn has two bank accounts with balances of $1100 and $843. Lynn also has three credit cards with balances of $250, $782, and $1360. What is the total value of the five accounts?

1100+843+250+782+1360 = 4335

$4335

Hmm!  I'm inclined to think that the credit card balances should be subtracted from the bank balances as, presumably,  Lynn will have to pay the former to the credit card companies.

Are the credit card balances what she owes or the $ she has loaded/prepayed on to the credit cards GAMEMASTERX40 ?

All the money she have in her credit cards balances is the money she have so doesn't own any money!

Alan read again the problem! It says "What is the total value of the five accounts?" So the problem is asking to add all the money she have!

Fair enough! In that case Landry's reply is correct.

Lynn has two bank accounts with balances of $1100 and $843. Lynn also has three credit cards with balances of $250, $782, and $1360. What is the total value of the five accounts?

$1,100 + $843 =$1,943 Credit balance of her two bank accounts.

$250 + $782 +$1,360 =$2,392 Debit balance of her three credit cards.

$1,943 - $2,392 = - $449 Net debit balace that Lynn has- or net amount she owes.

Guest whoever you are, you are wrong! You have to add all the money to get the answer! Try again!

GAMEMASTERX40:

I don't think you or your teacher know that much about money!!. Even though the question is:

"What is the total value of the five accounts?" In actual fact, the question means "What is Lynn's Net Worth"? It is worded like that to get you to think and NOT just add the five numbers together, unless you are in Grade 2!!.
