You are building a storage shed in your back yard. You build a base that covers twice the area of the original plans. You want to keep the shed proportional to the original design. What would you need to multiply the original volume by to find out how much more you could store in the shed?(This is with the scale factor ratios)

The scale factor  is  √2

So....you would need to multiply the origival volume by  (scale factor)^3  = (√2)^3

CPhill is right, but (sqrt2)^3=2sqrt2.

You are very welcome!
