There is a point-slope form for a line  y - y1 = m(x - x1)

point = (x1, y1) = (4, 2)

slope = m = 3

Substituting:  y - 2  =  3(x - 4)

                     y - 2  =  3x - 12

                      y       =  3x - 10

The point-slope form is probably the most useful of all the forms; it would save you a lot of time if you could learn it.
