2x² - 12x + 8

Start by factoring out the common factor:

2(x² - 6x + 4)

When factored it will look like this:    2(x -   )(x -   )

The two numbers that you need must have a product of 4 and a sum of 6.

There aren't two whole numbers that work; if factored, they will be square roots.
