a countrys population in 1992 was 50 million. in 2002 it was 53 million. estimatethe population in 2010 using the exponential growth formula. round to the nearest million??

Exponential growth formula:  A  =  Pert

A = final amount = 53     P = beginning amount = 50     r = rate (as a decimal)    r = time = 10

--->   53  =  50·er·10

--->   53  =  50·e10r

--->   1.06  =  e10r

--->   ln(1.06)  =  ln(e10r)

--->   ln(1.06)  =  10r

--->   ln(1.06) / 10  =  r

--->   r  =  0.00583   --->   r  =  0.583%

Population in 2010 (using base year as 1992):  r  =  0.00583  and  t  =  18

--->   A  =  50·e0.00583 · 18

--->   A  =  50·e0.10494

--->   A  =  55.5 million
