To calculate the percent discount, divide the amount of discount by the original price and multiply by 100.

Amount of discount =  $55.00                      Original price =  $100.00

Amount of discount / Original price x 100   ===>   $55.00 / $100.00 x 100  =  .55 x 100  =  55%
