To simplify √8  -->  √8  =  √4 · √2  =  2√2

To simplify √(a^12)  -->  A square root is an exponent of 1/2

                √(a^12)  -->  (a^12)^(1/2)  =  a^6          (multiply exponents when you have a power to a power)

Putting this together:  3 · 2√2 · a^6   =  6√2 · a^6
