First you will need to use law of cosines t o fine the length of side a    ( do you know how to do that?)

 

 a^2 = b^2 + c^2 - 2(b)(c)cos 79

 

  do that first then use Heron's formula

Step 1: Calculate "s" (half of the triangles perimeter):

s = (a+b+c)/2

Step 2: Then calculate the Area:    Area = sqrt [   s  (s-a)(s-b)(s-c) ]

We don't really need  Heron's Formula  ( unless you're a glutton for punishment .....)

 

We  know  two sides and   an included  angle  between  these sides

 

Area =  (1/2)  product of  the sides  * sine of the included angle

 

So

 

Area  = (1/2) bc *sin A

 

Area  = (1/2)  (77 * 41)  sin 79°   =  1549  (sq units)

You do have to use Heron's formula because the question says use Herron's formula !

 

Anyway, this kid only wants the answer.   Just another cheat.
