Each kilometre is equivalent to 1000 metres. Since there are 2.4 kilometres, a simple ratio can find the answer.

2.4km×(1000m1km)

Multiply:

2.4km×1000m1km

The km (kilometres) cancel out and from there it is simple multiplication.

2.4×10001=2400

Since there are 1000 metres in a kilometre, multiply 2.4 x 1000 to find the number of metres.
