If you have a division problem like these,  then subtract exponents; the answer is  x^4.

 x^10 / x^6  =  x^4

x^8 / x^8  =  x^0  =  1

x^4 / x^7  =  x^-3      which is the same as 1 / x^3

[a^5·b^3] / [a^2·b^7]  =  a^3·b^-4  =  a^3 / b^4

If you have some specific problems, please ask...
