In countries utilizing the "long scale," (Great Britain, most of continental Europe and Latin America) it has 18.

In countries utilizing the "short scale," (U.S. and Arabic-speaking countries) it has 12.

As they say on TV, consult your local listings........

My experience is that the scientific community in the UK adopted the US approach to billions and trillions a long time ago!
