Draw each triangle, label all three angles, and put in the measurements that you know.

Circle the angle that you want to find. In relation to this angle, label the three sides as "opp" (for "opposite"), "adj" (for "adjacent", and "hyp" (for "hypotenuse").

If you know the two sides opp and hyp, use sin:  sin(angle) = opp/hyp.

If you know the two sides adj and hyp, use cos:  cos(angle) = cos/hyp.

If you know the two sides opp and adj, use tan:  tan(angle) = opp/hyp.
