if you want to know the equation of a line that has a slope of 2 and passes through the point (1,3), use the point-slope form for a straight line:          y - y1  =  m(x - x1)

For this problem:  m  =  2       x1  =  1         y1  = 3

y - 3  =  2(x - 1)

y - 3  =  2x - 2

y  =  2x + 1
