Many of Daniel's friends wanted to try the candy bars he brought back from his trip, but there were only 35 candy bars. Daniel decided to cut the candy bars into pieces so that each person could have 8 7 of a candy bar. After cutting up the candy bars, to how many friends could Daniel give his candy, assuming he didn't eat any?

Did you mean that "each person could have 8/7ths of a candy bar"?

If so, divide 35 by 8/7:  35 ÷ 8/7  =  35 x 7/8  =  30.625, or 30 persons.
