You can set up a ratio: 120 mi / 8 in = x mi / 1 in
Cross multiply: 120 mi x 1 in = x mi x 8 in
Divide both sides by 8 in to get 15 mi = x mi ---> x = 15
8 inches = 120 miles
So
1 inch = (1/8) of 120 miles = 15 miles
