I assume you want the answer to 4  ???   ....if so

If the tan  = 5   so..... y = 5 and x = 1

So r = sqrt  (5^2 + 1^2)   = sqrt 26

So

sin(theta) + cos(theta)  =

[5 + 1] / sqrt(26)  = 6/sqrt(26)  ≈ 1.176  ≈ 1.18     (D)

cool cool cool

Number 4 is really easy.

theta is an acute angle so draw a right angled triangle and lable one of the acute anges theta.

Now tan theta = 5/1

so put 5 on the opposite side and 1 on the adjacent side

now use pythagorean theorem to find the hypotenuse.  It will be  sqrt26

sintheta + cos theta = 1/sqrt26 + 5/sqrt26 = 6/sqrtr26

now you can finish it with a calc. I get 1.18
