f(x)  = -4x² + 9x + 7

Since  f(x)  =  0,     -4x² + 9x + 7  =  0

Solving by the quadratic formula:    a = -4,  b = 9,   and   c = 7

      x  =  (-9 ± √[ 9² - 4(-4)(7) ] ) / ( 2(-4) )

     x  =  ( -9 ± √[ 193] ) / ( -8 )

     x  =  2.862  or  -0.6116
