Let  P  stand for the amount of money made on selling paperback books.

Let  H  stand for the amount of money made on selling hardcover books.

Then:  P + H  =  124,300

But, since they make four times on paperback books as on hardcover books:  P  =  4H

         4H + H = 124,300

               5H  =  124,300

                 H  =  24,860

    P  =  4H  =  4(24,860)  =  99,440
