A pizzeria charges $8 for a large cheese pizza, plus $2 for each topping. Write an equation of a line in slope-intercept form to express the cost, y, of a large cheese pizza with x toppings. State the slope, x-intercept, and y-intercept of the equation.

y = 2x + 8

The slope is 2: for every added topping the value of y increases by 2.

The y intercept is the value of y when x = 0, so yintercept = 8

The x intercept is the value of x when y = 0, so 0 = 2*xintercept + 8.  rearrange to find xintercept = -4
