1/2(8-x)=8-x/2

(1/2) · (8 - x)  =  (8 - x) / 2

So, we have:         (8 - x) / 2  =  8 - x / 2

Multiply each term by 2 to eliminate fractions:    8 - x  =  16 - x

Add  x  to both sides:  8  =  16

Since this is not possible the original "equation" was not really an equation.
