[ 1/x² + 1/y² ] / [ 1/x + 1/y ]

Look at all the denominators; their common denominator is x²y².

Multiply both the numerator and the denominator of the fraction by x²y²:

Numerator:  [ 1/x² + 1/y² ] · x²y²  =  y² + x²  =  x² + y²

Denominator:  [ 1/x + 1/y ] · x²y²  =  xy² + x²y  =  xy(x + y)

Answer:  [  x² + y² ] / [ xy(x + y) ]
