12. Solve the system by substitution : 2x - 3y = 11 and x = 4y + 9

2x - 3y  =  11          and         x  =  4y + 9

Substituting the second equation into the first:  2(4y + 9) - 3y  =  11

                                                                        8y + 18 - 3y  =  11

                                                                                 5y + 18  =  11

                                                                                        5y  =  -7

                                                                                          y  =  -7/5

Substituting this into the second equation:  x  =  4(-7/5) + 9  =  -28/5 + 45/5  =  17/5
