If you are trying to solve the equation:  -2x - 6 < 2

then:  add 6 to both sides:                        -2x < 8

and:  divide by -2 (because you are dividing by a negative, you must change the direction of the inequality symbol:                               x > -4

1.combine like terms 

-2x -4 is the simplist answer
