6x-10=10x+5

Add 10 to both sides

6x-10+10=10x+5+10

6x=10x+15

Subtract 10x from both sides

6x-10x=10x+15-10x

-4x=15

Divide both sides by -4

-4x/-4=15/-4

x=-(15/4)

Get all the x-terms to one side; subtract 6x from both sides:

  6x - 10  =  10x + 5

       -10  =  4x + 5

Subtract 5 from both sides:

       -15  =  4x

Divide both sides by 4:

        x  =  -15/4
