A quicker way to solve this using fractions would be to place 7.5 over 1 and 3 over 4.

7.5/1 * 3/4

Multiply straight across, tops and bottoms.

22.5/4 

Divide.

5.625 is your answer.

7.5 * 0.75 I presume?

 

Put it into fractions. 15/2 * 3/4

 

15/2 = 30/4

 

30/4 * 3/4 = 90/16

 

80/16 = 5

 

5 + 10/16 = 5 + 5/8

 

Putting it back into decimal form (as given) then the answer is 5.625
