Yup, you wouldn't make #2 negative, because the absolute values make everthing inside them positive if they are negative. If they are positive already though, you just leave them positive.

So #2's answer is 3/2, as Aziz said.

Absolute values make everything inside them positive.

For example, |-7| = 7.

But, they only make things inside them positive. So, if you had -|7|, it would become -(7), then -7.

See if you can use this info. to anwer those three questions of yours. :)

1. |-4| --> taking abs. value means you obtain the positive part --> 4.

2. |32| = 32.

3. -|1.7| = -(1.7) = -1.7.

Question #2 should be positive as Ninja stated: Absolute values make everything inside them positive.
