How would you expand and simplify this; (3x+4)(x–1) With working? I'm studying for a test and this was one of the example questions.

Expand the following:
(3 x+4) (x-1)

(3 x+4) (x-1) = (3 x) (x) + (3 x) (-1) + (4) (x) + (4) (-1):
3 x x+4 x-3 x-4

3 x x = 3 x^2:
3 x^2+4 x-3 x-4

4 x-3 x = x:
Answer: |  3x^2 + x - 4

(3x+4)(x1)

3x(x1)+4(x1)<--- Multiplication Distributive Law

=(3x)(x)(3x)(1)+4x4 <--- Multiplication Distributive Law again

3x23x+4x4<--- Multiplying out the brackets.

3x2+x4<--- Combining like terms. Finish.
