Simplify the following:
7/8-1/4

Put 7/8-1/4 over the common denominator 8. 7/8-1/4  =  7/8-(2)/8:
7/8-(2)/8

7/8-2/8  =  (7-2)/8:
(7-2)/8

7-2 = 5:
Answer: |  5/8

7/8 = 0.875

1/4 = 0.25

7/8 - 1/4

= 0.875 - 0.25

= 0.625

7/8-1/4 is 5/8 or 0.625
