Feeling confused :(
Imagine you are watching a video on delay of 8 minutes of say a sports match. Without going in to relativity the sports game is happening in the present but from you are just looking at it in the past.
This could be applied to the delay of the sun.
+2440 A few years ago, I was in a sports lounge watching a football (American) game. One of the teams was kicking for a field goal and an intoxicated patron bet $10 the team would be successful. They weren’t. The ball hit the goalpost and bounced off.
A minute later, a replay came on and the patron made the same bet. He, of course, lost. When asked why he’d make such a bet, he replied that he couldn’t believe they do the same thing twice. 
When you look at a distant star. You are really looking at the light that radiated from that star maybe 10000 years ago. This means that the star could already have disintegrated. Maybe you are looking at a star that no longer exists. So in a sense you are looking into the past.
Looking at our sun is the same only the delay is only 8 minutes. :)
I really like the delayed viewing of a football match analogy.
