Since the last term is positive, either both signs are positive or both signs are negative.

Sine the middle term is negative, both signs are negative. This eliminates two of the possible answers.

Now, you will need to multiply the two numbers of the last term to get 36 and (ignoring the sign) add the two numbers of the last term to get the middle term; this will give you the right answer.

6 x 6 = 36  Does 6 + 6 = 12?

9 X 4 = 36  Does 9 + 4 = 12?
