A rectangle in the coordinate plane is shown below.  A line with slope 2 splits this rectangle into two regions with equal area.  What is the y-intercept of this line?

The rectangle has coordinates (-1,-1), (-1,1), (1,1), and (1,-1).

The coordinates draw a square centered on the origin.

Any line that bisects a square goes through its center.

The bisecting line goes through the center of the square.

The y-intercept is (0,0) which is the center of the square.

No matter what the slope of that line was, if it bisects the

square, it goes through the center.of that square.
