In the equation $|x-4| -10 = 2$, what is the product of all possible values of $x$?

|x - 4| - 10  =  2

Add 10 to both sides:  |x - 4|  =  12

So, either                       x - 4  =  -12         or         x - 4 = 12

                                            x  =  -8           or              x  =  16

Those are the two possible values of x; the product of these two numbers will be your answer.
