 Partial Differentiation steps.

What are the 4 steps to solve for partial differentiation and can you do an example of steps 2, 3 and 4. I can find f(x), f(xx) f(y) and f(yy for example. But then understanding ( a table form) of the values, 2 for each answer that for every x each y value will fit with it etc. And then to solve for d is confusing. Thanks.
