the ratio of boys to girls is 3:2. If there are thirty students, how many students are girls?

2 / [2+3] x 30 =

2/5 x 30 =60/5 =12 are girls.

30 - 12 =18 are boys, so that:

18:12 =3:2

the ratio of boys to girls is 3:2, so to make this ratio a fraction you would write,  (number of boys) / (total number of boys and girls) = 3/5

the ratio of girls to boys is 2:3, so to make this ratio a fraction you would write,  (number of girls) / (total number of boys and girls) = 2/5

so the total number of students that are girls would be,  (the fraction representing the number of girl students) * (number of all students) = 2/5 * 30 = 12
