I answered the first part of this problem here......http://web2.0calc.com/questions/two-fifth-grade-classes-raised-money-for-their-local-goodwill-charities-there-are-20-students-in-class-a-each-student-raised-18-there-ar

So...the total raised was $1224

And one charity received 3/4ths of this = $918

And to find what the other received, just subtract $918 from $1224....!!!

In class A:  20 students each raising $18.00:  20 x $18.00  =  $XXX.XX

In class B:  24 students.  Since each student raised twice as much money as each student in class A did, each                                         student raised $18.00 x 2 or $YY.YY.

                 24 students each raising $YY.YY:  24 x $YY.YY  =  $ZZZ.ZZ

The two classes together raised  $XXX.XX + $ZZZ.ZZ  =  $WWWW.WW

Since one charity received 3 times the other, one charity received 1/4 of the total while the other charity received 3/4 of the total. Find 1/4 and 3/4 of $WWWW.WW
