The square root of a negative number is an "imaginary" quantity

Slightly modifying geno's answer, we have

√(-11300) =√(-1)* √100 *·√113 = i * 10 * √113   ...or just.....10i√113

[Remember that i^2 = -1  .....so......i = √(-1) ]

√11300 = √100·√113 = 10√113

√113 can't be simplified because 113 is a prime number.
