When the formula for the surface area of a prism says L+2B, does it mean the area of the base is squared or to multiply by 2?

Multiply the area of one of the bases by 2 and add that answer to the lateral area (area of the sides).

The reason that you multiply the area of the base by 2 is because you have two bases, the top and the bottom.
