We have

2^10000  = x       take the log of both sides

log 2^10000 = log x     and by a log property

10000log 2 = log x

In exponential form we have

We know an an angle, a hypotenuse - the ladder length - and we're looking for an adjacent side. The cosine function seems appropriate....so....

cos 55= adj / 24   multiply both sides by 24
