Replace x with 3 wherever there is an x:  f(3)  =  6·3² + 3²3 - 1

and simplify ...

Rewrite as:  (x^3 + 5x - 1) + (-4x^5 + 6x^2 - 7x - 7)

Drop the parentheses; combine the like terms (the + 5x with - 7x  and -1 with -7) and rewrite from largest exponent down to lowest exponent.

Rewrite as (4x^7 - 4x^5 + 6x - 2) + (9x^6 + 8x^5 - 8x^2 + 6)

Remove the parentheses, combine the -2 and +6 and rearrange from largest exponent down to smallest exponent.

When x = -3:  7·(-3)^3 - 5·(-3)^2 + 7  =  7·(-27) - 5·(9) + 7  =  -189 - 45 + 7  =  -227

(x^3 / y^4)^3  =  (x^3)^3 / (y^4)^3  =  x^? / y^?

To find what the ? marks should be, use this rule:  when simplifying a power to a power, multiply the posers together.

For instance, if you had  (x^6)^7  =  x^42   (multiply the exponents together).

Rearrange to get:  (3·5)·(x^4·x^5)  then simplify (when you multiply two numbers or variables that have                                                              exponents and have the same base, add the exponents).

Find  |0.21 - 0.037|  first; this is  |0.173|  which is  0.173.

( 0.173 / 0.21) x 100

Do what's inside parenthese first:  0.173 / 0.21  =  0.8238095 (etc)

Then multiply by 100  --->   82.38095 ...

 -2^2 is evaluated as -(2^2)  =  -4  

The exponent is used before the negative sign is used; that is, find the value of 2^2, and then make your answer negative. The order of operations says to do the squaring first and then apply the negative.

In (-2)^2, the order of operation says that you do what's inside parentheses first (in other words, you turn the two into a negative two first) and then you square the answer.

So, be careful when using a calculator; if you want to square a negative 6, enter it as (-6)^2.
