Feature Questions 1 - Started 8th May 19
I have been thinking for a while now that it would be nice if we could showcase our best or most interesting answers somewhere.
When the forum was much, much smaller, I used to look at ever question and answer and put together a group of the best

I am recieving complaints that RAZIEL305 is using this as a cheat site,
I just answered one of his questions without realizing but I did not give an answer as such.

How to upload a picture.
I think different members do this differently.
I just tried to upload a pic from my computer in the 'normal' way and I could not make it work.
So maybe other people can comment here.

If a question is ticked that does not mean you cannot continue it.
If a question is ticked that does not mean you cannot continue it.
NOR does it mean that any mathematician has checked the answer.
Even if it has lots of hearts or it looks very impressive, it still could be incorrect!

What do answerers want from you?
Answerers want to see you learn!
They want to see that they are helping you to learn.
They want you to ask questions about their answers, they want you to interact with them!
Never just accept an answer that you do not understand.

Should you consider anything before you answer a question?
I would like answerers to think about why they are answering questions BEFORE they supply answers.
Are you seriously trying to help the asker to learn?
Are you mostly interested in showing your own cleverness or increasing your

A question for Alan.
Alan, I would like to know how to do MonteCarlo simulations.
I decided to ask publicly because maybe other people would like this too.
Can you show me or do I need a special program?
Thanks :)

A trig exact ratio memory trick.
This trig memory trick from TheXSquaredFactor is really good.
It is for 'remembering' the sine and cosine of angles that most students are told to memorize.

Problems with LaTex
Latex has not displayed properly for a couple of weeks now.
Have other people had a problem or is it just my display?
For instance, this answer of Hectictar only displays as coding for me, it does not display as it should.

What is the absolute value of 9?
What is the absolute value of -9?
There are 2 possible equations to make the problem true.
So, there are two answers.
I don't actually want to do it all for you.
Is this enough help?

The square root of 5 is an irrational number so it cannot be written exactly as a fraction or a decimal. It can only be estimated.

Initially y dash = 50*sin 53.1 degrees x dash = 50*cos 53.1 degrees
y=0 x=0
ongoing
y"=-g (I'll use -10) x"=0 ignore wind resistance
y' = -10t + 50sin 53.1 x'= 50*cos53.1
y= -5t^2 +(50sin53.1)*t x= (50cos53.1) *t
When y = 25
just substitute into the appropriate equation and solve with a quadratic equation.
I got 7.31 sec and 0.68 secs but I might have made a mistake.
This is enough to get you started. hope it helps.

I am not going to do the whole question for you but i will try to explain.
If g(x)=3*t - 6
then g(2) would equal 3*2 - 6 = 0
g(-4) = 3*(-4) - 6 = -18
g(a) = 3*a - 6
Just replace the original thing in the bracket with the new thing in the bracket.

I'm sorry, I don't get what Scott is saying although it would be easier to follow if this site allowed maths type.
Any way the question can only be answered if the original log is base e. So I will assume that.
log e^x = xloge = x*1 = x
So log (base e) of e^(2x+2) = 2x+2
The problem becomes 2x+2 = 7 The answer is x = 2.5

This is a region, there are an infinite number of answers.
First graph 5x+7y=57 It will be a dashed line because the less than sign is used.
then test a point (0,0) would be good.
If it satisfies the equation you shade in that side of the line, if it doesn't you shade in the other side.
Hope this helps.

There is no solution to this equation.
You are asking when does 5x-55 = 5x+9
This will be true when -55=9, in other words it will never be true.

It would be -1 because this is the only possible value for x
